Flying fish?

In a clear blue river lived a little fish named Neo.
Neo loved the water. He loved racing with the current, hiding behind smooth stones, and watching tiny bubbles float toward the surface.

But every evening, he looked up. Above him, birds painted the sky with their wings.
Oh, Neo sighed. I wish I could fly. The older fish would laugh.Fish swim, they would say.
Birds fly.
That is simply how the world works. Neo knew they were right. He didn't want wings because he wanted to be a bird. He simply wondered what the river looked like from the sky.
Did it sparkle like a ribbon? Did the trees look like little green clouds?
Could you see where the river began and where it ended? The questions swam around his mind every day.
One afternoon, a young boy named Shane came to the river with his gentle elephant, Zuki.
Shane loved visiting the river. He skipped stones, collected funny-shaped leaves, and always said hello to every creature he met, even the dragonflies.
Neo popped his head above the water.
I wish I could see the world from up there, he whispered. Shane smiled. You don't want to leave the river forever?
Neo shook his little fins. Oh no. I love my home.
I just wish I could see it from another point of view. Shane thought for a long time. Then his face brightened.
I think I have an idea.
The next morning, Shane returned carrying a round, transparent glass bowl filled with cool river water. It was just big enough for Neo to swim comfortably. Very carefully, he placed Neo inside.
Then Zuki, with the gentlest trunk anyone had ever seen, lifted the bowl high into the air.
Slowly they walked up the grassy hill beside the river. Higher.
Higher still.
Neo's eyes grew wide.
Below him, the river curled through the valley like a silver ribbon stitched across a green blanket.
The trees looked like fluffy broccoli. The boats became tiny toys. The ducks looked like little dots that quacked. Even the clouds reflected themselves in the water, making the river seem as though it carried pieces of the sky.
It's beautiful, Neo whispered.
I never knew my home was this lovely.
Zuki lifted the bowl a little higher, just enough for the breeze to tickle the water inside. Neo laughed so hard that tiny bubbles danced around him. For a little while, he felt as though he had borrowed a bird's view.
When they returned to the river, Shane gently lowered the bowl into the water.
Neo swam out happily.
So, asked one curious turtle, did you finally fly? Neo smiled.
No. I did something even better. I found another way.
From that day on, whenever someone said a dream was impossible, Neo would simply grin.
Perhaps, he would say. But impossible doesn't always mean the journey must end. Sometimes it means looking for a different path.
And sometimes, with a kind friend, a thoughtful boy, and a patient elephant, you discover that dreams do not always need wings. Sometimes, they simply need imagination. And whenever birds flew overhead, Neo no longer wished to be one of them.
He would wave his little fin instead.
After all, he had already seen the world from the sky.
In his own wonderful way.
